I guess that quote of J.K Rowling is true, "something very magical can happen when you read a good book," especially when it comes to poetry like Rupi Kaur's Milk and Honey. And if you know me well, you'd know that Milk and Honey is one of my favorite books. Rupi Kaur is a feminist poet who writes about the issues that women struggle with on a daily basis.
I was thrilled to buy this book because of the imagery and the tone of the poems. All of the pieces caught my eye that I read a 275 page book in 2 hours (even though the poems were only about 2-4 lines long) but I was obsessed!!
1. Your body, your garden.
2. Empower your sisters.
3. That particular one that I swear by.
4. For my fellow resilient women of colour
5. One that speaks for itself
6. One rises, We all rise.
7. A body of water.
8. We'll always need ourselves
9. Other people's success doesn't necessarily mean your failure.
10. Appearance doesn't matter.
11.
12. Sometimes we don't use our voices because we are afraid of what people will say.
13. "The closest thing to God on this earth."
14. "Pit stop"
15. "i am the water you need"
16. Society considers the most gracious biology a taboo.
17. Stay Humble.
18. Love yourself
19. He isn't worth it if he brings your sisters down.
20. And finally, just because someone doesn't want to hear you, doesn't mean you should listen to them.
These are only some of the many quotes that I feel a certain connection with. This book is a 10/10.
